Mountain Biking in the Swiss Alps with NAUTIZ X6

Find the right trails, navigate, take spectacular photos, and be ready in case of emergency

With the Nautiz X6 Android handheld and the right app, you can plan an attractive bike tour in no time.

Andreas Hitz, the Managing Director of Handheld Swiss GmbH used his Nautiz X6 to explore some of the beautiful bike trails of Switzerland in the summer of 2020.

The year 2020 brought us all so many changes. I had intended to travel to Sardinia by motorcycle with a few colleagues. Unfortunately, Covid-19 ruined so many things even less-critical events like vacation plans.

I must admit that, as a Swiss national, the attractive and well-known Swiss Alpine passes have lost some of their fascination after the umpteenth time I’ve traveled them by motorcycle. So, I decided to buy an e-bike this summer to get some of the stamina I don’t get when riding a motorcycle. I am lucky to live in one of the areas where the best trails with breathtaking scenery can be found.

With the Nautiz X6 Android handheld and the right app, you can plan an attractive bike tour in no time. Thanks to the right accessories, especially the passive holder, it is child’s play to attach the Nautiz X6 to the e-bike. Best of all, it is the same mount for the e-bike as for the motorcycle – a real all-rounder.

The Nautiz X6 is perfect for navigating and displaying the route map thanks to its large 6-inch display, which is easy to see even for direct sunlight. Thanks to the built-in u-blox GPS receiver, you are always on the right track.

The Nautiz X6 is IP67 protected. This means that the device is completely safe from water and trail dust. The device also complies with the MIL-STD-810G standard and is therefore protected against high humidity, vibrations, falls and extreme temperatures. One of my favorite trails has gravel and rocks which produce plenty of vibration. And I enjoy riding even in rainy weather, so the fact that the Nautiz X6 is totally fine in rain and mud is a big bonus.

If you use a playlist as a pacesetter, our bone conduction BT headphones can be connected, the playlist selected, and everything goes almost by itself. For safety, bone conduction means that the headphones aren’t inserted into your ears, so the ambient noise can always be heard.

During my rides, the Nautiz X6 had to withstand high and low temperatures, rain, a lot of dust and shocks, vibrations, and falls. The Nautiz X6, me, and the e-bike had no problems in this environment and were well supported.

The Nautiz X6 is really an all-in-one device. I use the device as a navigator, camera, sound system, and telephone. I also use the Switzerland-based Rega app which allows me to share my position in case of an emergency.

I’ve already planned my next tours. The Nautiz X6 will be with me again. Because in such beautiful surroundings every route is an experience.

Here’s a video showing one of the trails that Andy rides (it is not him in the video).
