NAUTIZ X41 Pistol grip guides

Bare pistol (NX41EXP-1055)

To top

Utilizing the pistol without any addons is very straightforward and requires little setup. The pistol itself does not require to be powered on since it now works as a “trigger only” type accessory via the pogo pin connection on the back. If you want to make the pistol lighter in weight, the integrated battery can easily be removed. Use the thumbscrew at the bottom of the grip “picture”.

Do not power on and pair the pistol if you plan on using it without any addon. The battery is only meant to power the addons and has no other use when using the bare pistol. Pairing it will disable scanning to highlight this.

Getting started

  1. Mount your Nautiz X41 device to the pistol by firmly attaching it to the sled.
  2. Make sure to enable barcode scanning in the Settings > Scanner settings > Scanner configuration.
  3. Done!
If the display is allowed to sleep/turn OFF the grip will no longer be allowed to scan, so for heavy-duty scanning applications it’s recommended to set Settings > Display > Screen timeout to “never” value.

Pistol with long range-scanner (NX41EXP-LRS)

To top

In order to utilize the pistol with a long-range scanner addon together with your Nautiz X41 device, we need to make sure that it’s powered up and paired. The scanner functionality is built into the standard operating system of the Nautiz X41 (Android 11) and will work without any additional apps after pairing and configuring a few settings.

Getting started

  1. Mount your Nautiz X41 device to the pistol by firmly attaching it to the sled.
  2. Turn on the pistol by pressing and holding the power button until the lights start blinking and you hear a beep.
  3. Pair the pistol grip by accessing Settings > Scanner settings > Pistol grip connection manager > Connect. Click refresh to start searching for Bluetooth devices and locate your pistol that will be named “NX41EXP-P”. The device will ask for a pin code which is per default “1234”.
  4. Once paired you can start scanning immediately.
  5. Done!

  • If the display is allowed to sleep/turn OFF the grip will no longer be allowed to scan, so for heavy-duty scanning applications it’s recommended to set Settings > Display > Screen timeout to “never” value.
  • The pistol grip will stay paired and turned on until disconnected by the user, actively turned OFF, or run out of battery.
  • After a restart of the NX41 device the pistol will not automatically connect, but there is a quick switch button in the curtain menu if the pistol and device have already been paired in the past. Picture
  • The physical “SW” key on the side of the pistol grip allows the user to switch between operating the long-range scanner and the internal scan engine of the device.

Battery charging and/or replacement

To top

The battery of the pistol grip can be charged using two methods:

  1. Desktop dock (included with all purchases): The dock will charge both the NX41 device and the internal pistol grip battery.
  2. Two slot battery charger (optional): Allows for batteries to be charged outside of the pistol body. Simply twist the thumbscrew at the bottom of the pistol until the cover pops open and carefully remove the battery. Please note that there is a right/wrong way to place the battery inside the pistol body which is marked clearly on the battery pack.
The USB-C port on the bottom of the pistol grip is designed for debugging and firmware updates, not charging.
