Side keys

The SidekeyCommand allows you to change the functionality of the side keys on supported devices. You can change the keycode or launch an app.

The name you have to use for each button differs from product to product.
However, there will be no error if you use an invalid name and there shouldn’t be any conflicting names. This means that you can still use the same staging project across multiple products.

Please find the actual names for the different buttons below:

Nautiz X2
The Nautiz X2 does require a reboot for the settings to take effect.

front-scan Front scan trigger (3rd from the left)

Algiz RT7

The Algiz RT7 does currently not support changing the side keys with the staging command.

An error will be thrown when you try to use the sidekey-command on the Algiz RT7.

Please note that this feature requires at least v1.4.1 of the Staging app.
  1. Create a new Intent command
  2. Set the “Intent Type” to “Activity”
  3. Set the “Intent value” to “android.intent.action.VIEW”
  4. Click “Add extra”
  5. Set the “Type” to “String”
  6. Set the “Key” to “__DATA”
  7. Set the “Value” to the URL you want to open – e.g. “https://example.com/”

Please note that this feature requires at least v1.6.4 of the Staging app.
This document only applies to the Nautiz X2 and Nautiz X41. It’s currently not possible to change the scanner settings on other devices.

Each setting is applied using an Intent command. If you want to change multiple settings of the same type (e.g. Symbologies) you will have to create an Intent command for each change.

The Intent Type is always “Action“.

Enable and disable symbologies

Intent value: android.intent.action.ENABLESYMBOLOGIES

  • Type: Integer, Key: “symbologies”, Value: see list below
  • Type: Boolean, Key: “enable”, Value: “true” to enable the symbology, “false” to disable it
