Handheld's NAUTIZ X5 improves ticket efficiency at FIBA Basketball World Cup

2/19/2015 : article

On August 30, the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup started in Spain. Twenty-four countries will compete in Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Gran Canaria, Madrid and Seville for the FIBA title and automatic qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

THE WORLD OF THOR, official distributor of rugged mobile technology products from Handheld Group, will also attend this major event with more than 90 Nautiz X5 rugged PDAs in tow. Using the Nautiz X5’s barcode-reading capabilities along with a software application designed by Ingenia Technology, these devices will read and verify tickets to improve efficiency at access control points.

This isn’t the first time the Nautiz X5 has joined the Spanish National basketball team. Last August, Nautiz X5 units assisted with team training, event IT and logistics systems for the “Ruta Ñ” a 15-day promotional tour through several cities in Spain.

During an event of this size, managing public access to matchups is a challenging task — especially when you consider that games take place in several different cities on the same day and at similar times. At this year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup, the Nautiz X5, a large team of technical specialists, and professionals from Ingenia Technology are making quick, safe entry possible.
