HBPC 2015 an overview

Thank you to all who attended our 8th annual Handheld Business Partner Conference (HBPC) in Stockholm on 2-3 June, 2015. Handheld business partners from around the world came to learn from the world-class speaker line-up, hear new product information, pursue new business opportunities and, of course, have a really great time.

Some feedback from HBPC2015 attendees:

"It was the meeting of all professional people in our rugged business, THE place to be with very high skilled external speakers. Very exciting!"

"Excellently presented and a very informative conference, well worth attending especially as a relative newcomer to handheld."

"Very interesting topics for this market segment presented in a professional way. Good event to meet partners, potential customers and the Handheld staff."

Amy Urban, marketing director for Handheld US and the conference moderator, welcomed all attendees and introduced our Showcase Partners. As the conference started, these partners briefly introduced themselves, their companies and their solutions. Attendees were able to visit with the Showcase Partners’ exhibition stands throughout the conference day.Moderator Amy Urban

Jerker Hellström, CEO of Handheld Group, kicked off the formal conference program with a brief summary of the activities and opportunities that have presented themselves since the last HBPC.

Our best-ever lineup of external speakers gave talks throughout the day.

  • VDC Research:
David Krebs, Executive Vice President for Enterprise Mobility and AIDC

VDC Research has been an integral part of the HBPC from the beginning. This year, David Krebs spoke on current market trends and forecasts in the rugged device world. His talk, which included information on the shifting landscape of operating systems in the rugged marketplace, set up the day for some of our later speakers.
Max Coppin, Partner Manager, Android Enterprise

The Android operating system has seen increased use in the rugged marketplace in general as well as in the Handheld product line. Max Coppin brought us up to date on where the Android OS is currently seeing success, and developments that they see for the future.
  • Microsoft:
Klas Hammar, Business Group Lead, Windows & Surface

Handheld has a long and successful history with the Windows operating system. Klas Hammar brought us up to date on what’s next with Windows 10.
  • SOTI:
    Stefan Spendrup, Regional Manager Nordics

Mobile device management is a growing requirement for enterprises of all sizes. Stefan Spendrup gave an overview of SOTI’s capabilities, including announcing that several Handheld devices are becoming SOTI-certified.
  • Qualcomm:
Jérôme Jacqmin, Director Product Marketing, EU

In addition to operating systems and software, product hardware components like the Snapdragon processor were of great interest to our attendees. Jerome Jacqmin brought us up to speed on what’s new—and coming—in Qualcomm’s chipsets.
  • SAAB:
Antoine Haddad, Product Manager, Operation Centre Solutions, Nordic, Critical Systems & Communication Solutions

Every year, we invite one of our customers to discuss how their use of Handheld rugged computers has made their mobile team more efficient. This year we heard how Saab public safety solutions center around the ALGIX 10X rugged tablet.

Speakers HBPC 2015

During the conference, attendees also learned event-exclusive pre-launch information about upcoming Handheld products. Product presentations and product updates were given by Johan Hed, Handheld’s director of product management and Myra Long, Handheld’s Program Manager.

Between speakers and during coffee and lunch breaks, partners and Handheld staff mingled in the Partner Showcase area where our many of our partners displayed solutions which include the Handheld’s rugged mobile computers. This networking opportunity is one aspect of the HBPC for which we consistently receive positive post-event feedback.

The evening event opened with champagne either indoors —or on the hotel’s outdoor terrace for those daring enough to endure the gusting winds—followed by dinner in the banquet hall. During dinner Ellinor Asp and her sidekick Sofie provided entertainment. She was so well received that she was called back for multiple encores for her post-dinner performance. It turns out that Handheld Business Partners love to dance!Dinner event HBPC 2015

The Handheld team would like to thank each and every person who attended our 2015 Handheld Business Partner Conference. We hope you’ll be able to join us next time!
